The first port of call was the capital of Estonia, Tallinn.

The old town of Tallinn is well-preserved from the medieval age, with cobblestone streets, castles, churches, town hall and market. We had lunch at Von Krahli Aed, a restaurant that serves Estonian cuisine at a good price.
The restaurant was full and had to turn people without reservations away. Thank goodness I made a reservation a few weeks ahead!
herring on seed bread with poached egg and beet root ice cream…. this was a really interesting combination! I used the egg yolk as salad dressing and the ice-cream to balance out the saltiness of the herring…The beet root ice cream was more like a sorbet…
fish soup.. only 3 euros!
pasta with chicken… although it looks like a cream sauce, it actually isn’t and has a bit of lemony taste to it.. only 5 euros!
roasted chicken with fresh salad and coconut milk sauce….
Crème brûlée with fresh berries
dark chocolate cake with hot cherry sauce and peppermint ice-cream…. extremely rich chocolate cake and strong tasting peppermint ice cream!
This was the best value for quality meal we had on this trip! All this for less than 40 euros!
