We headed to Montmartre for sightseeing on a bright sunny day…Sacre-Coeur…
Painter’s Square… I bought a watercolour painting here 10 years ago and found the same artist.. ending up buying another!
We passed a really interesting hot dog stand in front of an ice-cream shop… A big “wok” is used instead of a grill..
delicious French hot dog… onions and sausage in a baguette….

Apart from being famous for deep dish pizza, Chicago is also famous for their hot dogs.
We went to Portillo’s as it’s the most famous vendor for Chicago-style hot dogs. It’s featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives!
The restaurant is self serve.. sorta reminds me of a food court… but it’s way nicer.. it’s decorated like an All-American theme park!
Chicago-style hot dog (mustard, relish, freshly chopped onions, sliced red ripe tomatoes, kosher pickle and sport peppers piled onto a steamed poppy seed bun)….. In Chicago, ketchup is banned for hot dogs… hence, all the other toppings. Since I don’t like relish, onion, pickle, nor pepper..I ended up picking everything out and just had a plain dog with tomatoes… The sausage is just steamed.. not even grilled! Didn’t really like this hot dog style…
Italian beef sandwich… this was pretty good.. lots of beef!
chicken pecan salad (lettuces topped with tender chicken, crunchy bacon, red cabbage, tomato, a shredded cheese blend and pecans topped with honey dijon dressing)..
FAIM? un peu….

Our ship was docked in Warnemunde and it took 3 hours by bus to Berlin! Nevertheless, the long transportation time was worth it because we saw the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Wall, Check-Point Charlie, Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (aka. Holocaust Memorial) and much more.
The above picture is that of the Holocaust Memorial and we had lunch at a cafe facing it.
Rostbratwurst…. it was average and the sausage wasn’t completely grilled…
Currywurst….It’s a Berlin specialty and it’s soooooo good! The sausage is fried and mixed with curry and ketchup! I’m gonna to do this to my sausages at home!
potatoes with bacon…

First, it was the name that sold me.. how cool is it to name a restaurant BRAT? Second, it’s a restaurant that serves gourmet hot dogs!
My friend and I each ordered the “Be a Brat” set ($99) which comes with fries and a hot dog. For a hot dog set, it’s pretty expensive….
The set fries come with ketchup but I really wanted to try the truffle mayo fries so I had to pay an extra $15 for some truffle mayo! The fries were hot and crispy..my favourite kind and the truffle mayo was so creamy and fragrant!
I ordered the Portobello with signature bun (portobello mushrooms, dried champignons, porcini, sage with honey mustard and caramelized onions) while my friend ordered the Sun dried tomatoes mozzaraella with signature bun (Sun dried tomatoes, mozzaraella, basal with sautéed mushrooms and honey mustard).
The hot dog was pretty good: buns were crispy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside and the sausage was tasty ( I could actually taste the portobello mushroom inside the sausage).
