Seasons @ Four Seasons Hotel Washington, D.C.

While we were in Washington, we had a power breakfast every morning at the hotel.  Seasons is known as THE spot for power breakfast and lunch.  It was evident cause everyone around us were in suits (probably making deals)…. while we were lounging away in our shorts and tees.

Light and Easy: poppy seed bagel, Yogurt Parfait with Berries…. I had this every morning. Loved the parfait…

a closeup of its perfectness… chunks of granola and berries, drizzled with mango pulp..  yummmm

DC half hash (charcoal grilled and served with a hash brown patty, beef chili, poached eggs, and cheddar cheese sauce)… apparently this is DC’s well-known dish.. the parentals loved it

pancakes.. so plain…

Jumbo Lump Crab benedict Boursin, Roasted Tomato with Baby Arugula Salad….

seasonal fruit plate… the fruits were soooooooooooo sour…

FAIM? OUI OUI!!!!

Pearl Dive – Washington, D.C.

While waiting in line at Rose’s Luxury, I asked the foodies for oyster bar recommendations.  They all unanimously agreed on  Pearl Dive.

Located between the hip restaurant row of 14th st and the roaring corridor of U Street, this restaurant screams hip!

The restaurant has a rustic decor, with a bar upfront and a restaurant at the back.

We started off with oysters.. all sorts of oysters!

Wood Grilled East Coast Oysters (Garlic, Red Chile Butter, Gremolata).. Loved the flavour.. but kind of lost the oyster taste…

Angels on Horseback (Grilled-Bacon Wrapped Oysters, Vin Blanc, Vinegar Reduction)… Love anything bacon wrapped! even more so with oyster!

Tchoupitoulas (Oyster Confit, Blue Crab, Tasso Ham, Roasted Corn)… couldn’t taste the crab..

1 pound of Addie’s Mussels (Garlic, Shallot, Fumet, Butter, Lemon, Grilled Baguette)…the mussels were kinda small.. but were juicy… Loved the grilled baguette!

Spinach Madeleine Tart (Spinach, Artichokes, Béchamel, Parmesan Cheese)……

The quality of the food here was superbe….. so we decided to order 3 oysters each to start..

starting from the left to the right (the oyster taste goes from mild to strong): Goose Point WA; Tatamagouche NS, Old Blacksalt Va.

I can’t decide if I like the milder ones or the stronger ones… The milder one didn’t really have much taste.  But that’s a good thing? Cause it means it tastes fresh.  We liked it so much that we ordered other oysters to try.

Wildcat Cove WA; Battle Creek VA; Fishers Island NY

Wish we could have ordered more.. but we didn’t want to take any chance as we were taking the Amtrak to New York the next day.

Shrimp Dinner (Bacon Braised Organic Greens, Salt Roasted Potatoes & Creamy Cole Slaw, Classic Tartar Sauce )……

Wood Grilled Gulf Redfish Sage and Native Pecan Brown Butter, Stone Grits)…. I don’t think I’ve tried Redfish before… it’s tender.. but not like sea bass.  I liked how they garnished the fish with pecans.

cornbread!  freshly baked! we didn’t get it till the middle of the meal.. so soft and warm!

Pearl Dive is clearly a winner.. plus Food and Wine named it America’s Best Oyster Bar!

Clyde’s of Georgetown – Washington, D.C.

Clyde’s of Georgetown is another one of  Washington’s institution, having opened more than 50 years ago.  It came up on my “what-to-eat” search from many sources.

The restaurant is famous for seafood! especially it’s crab tower!

crab tower (umbo lump crab salad, seaweed salad, tobiko, coconut-curry rice cake, avocado and ginger miso sauce)… all my fav ingredients together!!! look at all the crab meat!!!! I also liked how it incorporated a lot of different Asian elements.

linguine vongole….

Monthly special: Maine lobster with french fries and coleslaw….for only $19.95!!! Such a good deal!!! and it tasted fresh! There’s also an option of having just a lobster for $16!

Georgetown Cupcake – Washington, D.C.

Ever since it appeared on TLC’s  DC Cupcakes and other tv shows, Georgetown Cupcake became another crazed cupcakery in America.  It started with one shop in Georgetown and expanded to 6 other locations nationwide.

I read on Yelp that weekday lines are normally 30mins – 1 hour and weekends, 1-2 hours!  Instead of lining up, I ordered the cupcakes online a day earlier, and could walk right into the store to pick it up!

This was our first time in DC and instead of sightseeing, my first stop was to pick up my cupcakes!

TA-DAH!

We ordered:

1 Chocolate Coconut
1 Chocolate Ganache
2 Red Velvet
1 Salted Caramel
1 Vanilla Birthday

I love how the cupcakes are decorated.. it’s simple yet cute!  Tastewise… the cupcakes were tooooooooooo toooooooooooo sweet… to the point where we discarded the frosting and just ate the cake (which was moist)…

We were disappointed with the cupcakes.. and if I had to wait in line for these, these would not be worth it.

After the cupcakes, we had to walk it off before our next meal!

gorgeous Georgetown..

FAIM? un peu…
