L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Etoile – Paris, France

We really enjoyed our meal at Hong Kong’s L’Atelier, so we had to try the L’Atelier in Paris! There are 2 L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Paris, 1 in Champs-Élysées and 1 in St-Germain-des-Prés.  They both have 2 Michelin stars but from various reviews, the outlet at St. Germain is rated higher.  We decided to go to the one in Champs-Élysées because it offered a lunch menu at 37 euros (choice of an appetizer or soup, entrée and dessert).. which is probably the cheapest meal at a Parisian 2 star restaurant.

It’s located in the basement of the Publicis Drugstore (near the Arc de Triomphe)….

Like all the L’Ateliers, it has an open kitchen….

The bread basket was such a disappointment… The bread at the HK outlet was warm and soft.. this was cold and hard…

amuse bouche..egg foam X foie gras… yumm!

appetizers:

L’oeuf coque sans coque (sur une symphonie de poivrons confits aux sucs de chorizo)….  this was poached egg… both my mom and brother ordered it and said it was really good..

La morue (froide effeuillée sur de la tomate fraîche au Xéres et croutons dorés)…. This fish appetizer was served cold.. i loved the pretty presentation.. so colourful!

this was a soup my dad had… he forgot what it was…

entrées:

la volaille (le filet en escalope façon milanaise)…. I ordered this but I didn’t really like it nor found it to be special… It was slightly too tough..

Le boeuf (le paleron Black Angus saisi a la plancha, jeunes pousses d’épinards au wasabi)… grilled just right! very tender.. I wished I ordered this!

les spaghettis (aux coquillages et tomates fraiches au basilic)…. extremely large, fresh and juicy clams! and loved the pasta sauce..

and we each got a mini bowl of  the famous Robuchon pommes purée.. my favourite!!! It’s so creamy and smooth! I tried to make this mashed potato with Robuchon’s recipe and it tasted pretty good.. but nothing compared to this!

dessert:

la peche (pochée, crémeeux chocolate ivoire et gingembre, coulis de peche)…. very Asian inspired dessert.. ginger ice-cream

les petits pots de creme tradition (caramel et chocolat)…my brother was sick and didn’t feel like eating this .. so I ate this too! extremely rich, creamy and smooth!

le tout cafe (gelée de café, crémeux léeger au gianduja, crumble au chocolat)…. this dessert is allll about coffee! strong and rich!

I was actually disappointed after this meal because I anticipated the food to wow me with every bite…but by the end of the meal, I wasn’t in a food coma….

FAIM? OUI OUI!!
