It seems like nowadays, fusion cuisine is the fad and hip Western restaurants have dishes with an Asian twist. However more than a century ago, there were already cafés in China specializing in Chinese-styled western food. Tai Ping Koon is one of these restaurants and its most famous dish is the Swiss chicken Wings
Swiss chicken wings is actually a misnomer because as legend said: more than a hundred years ago, a western man tried the wings and asked for the name. He misheard “sweet” as “Swiss,” and the name stuck. When I was younger, I loved going to Tai Ping Koon for Swiss wings because of the sweet soy sauce. However, a plate of wings costs $120… so kinda expensive!
My new favourite is the Swiss Sauce Beef Ho Fun. Each noodle is soaked with the sauce and is so tasty!
Baked pork chop with rice
Soufflé… This is the largest soufflé I’ve ever seen! Even 2 people can’t finish it! The outer crust is crispy while the inside is warm, soft and moist (it tastes like foam yumm!)
FAIM? OUI OUI!!
