Ben & Jerry’s – Hong Kong

Today’s Ben & Jerry’s 2011 Charity Cone Day! For every HK$10 donated to The Salvation Army – Heng On Integrated Services for Rehabilitation, Ben & Jerry’s will give a FREE scoop of ice-cream!  We went to the Times Square outlet during lunch but it wasn’t opened yet… but I was still determined to participate in this good cause!

After school, my friend and I went to the outlet in Central.  The last time I had Ben & Jerry’s was more than 10 years ago in Stanford!

For $10, you get a single scoop, a ice-cream key chain and a coupon for a free mini scoop in June! I ordered the Chocolate Therapy (Chocolate Ice Cream with Chocolate Cookies & Swirls of Chocolate Pudding Ice Cream) while my friend ordered the Strawberry Cheesecake (Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream with Strawberries and a Thick Cookie Swirl).  I’ve forgotten how good B &J is; the chocolate ice cream was so rich and creamy!

Even though we’ve maxed out our daily caloric intake, 1 scoop was not enough! We decided to have another scoop…. CAUSE IT’S FOR CHARITY (to make ourselves feel better!)  We didn’t have a $20, $10 bill nor coin, so we decided to pool our money together for a scoop.. but we ended up digging up all our coins (50 cents, $1, $2, $5) and it added up to $20!

We lined up again and when we placed our order, the sales looked at each other hesitantly .. cause apparently, the offer is limited to 1 per customer.  Anyways, we still got our ice cream and the keychain + coupon!  This time, I got the Strawberry Cheesecake!

My friend and I had a good laugh when we recalled how we desperately pooled our coins together and how embarrassing it was for the staff to recognize us! Kudos to Ben & Jerry’s for bringing the foodie community together in supporting a local charity!
